Our mission is to create a forum for women to learn, explore new ideas, connect and feel empowered to make a difference in the world around them. We believe that the more informed and connected we are as women, the better we feel, and the stronger our families, schools, businesses and communities become. We hope Speak to Me will become the premier speaker series for women in the Bay Area.
The Founders
Speak To Me founders Jenny Terry and Tracy Barsotti were friends before they had husbands and babies, but didn’t get a chance to work together until they both spearheaded fundraising events for the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Sharing a desire to bring inspiration, education and a stronger sense of community to the fabulous women they encountered in the Bay Area, they hatched a plan to put their event-planning and marketing skills to work. With similar experiences and management styles, and a passion for making a new idea a reality – a wonderful partnership was born.
Jenny Posta Terry | Co-Founder, CEO
Speak To Me Jenny received her MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Mathematics from UCLA. Following business school, she worked as a Brand Manager at the Clorox Company where she developed a passion for growing consumer businesses and leading teams.
In anticipation of motherhood, she left Clorox to run her own strategic and marketing consulting business. Her clients included Del Monte, Fijitsu, sfLEARNs, SF School District, and SF General Hospital. She also planned several large fundraising events while on the Board of Hands on San Francisco to support volunteerism in the community.
As a mom, she began focusing on issues faced by new mothers, the developmental needs of children, and how to create thriving communities in which to raise our children. On the Board of the Southern Marin Mothers Club she created a networking tool for moms to solicit and share advice with other local moms. She joined the Bay Area Discovery Museum Council to learn about child development and meet other Bay Area moms. Motivated by a desire to raise money for a good cause, she twice Co-Chaired the Museum’s Goblin Jamboree festival, enjoyed by 5,000 annually. She is a dedicated Old Mill School PTA volunteer.
Jenny is constantly inspired by the remarkable women in our midst, realizing what we love about our community exists because of them. She lives in Mill Valley with her husband and two children, Lauren (8) and Stephen (6).
Tracy Barsotti | Co-Founder
Tracy spent more than 12 years overseeing public relations and marketing for corporate and non-profit arts organizations, and consumer Internet and technology companies such as Apple, Silicon Graphics, E-Loan, the Art Dealers Association of America, PaineWebber, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and most recently Williams-Sonoma, Inc. She has extensive experience conducting publicity, advertising and broadcast media campaigns, speaking programs, media training and community relations programs.
She left the fast pace of corporate life behind to start her family, but continued to enjoy supporting community organizations such as the Bay Area Discovery Museum where she Co-Chaired two gala fundraising events, and oversaw the Youth Outreach program. She is constantly nourished by the warmth, generosity, intelligence and good humor of the women she encounters in her community, and is always pursuing the luxury of more time with them. Tracy spends her free time envisioning her next meal and who to share it with, plotting far flung travel adventures with her husband, and trying to savor every moment with her kids.
Tracy received her BA from Georgetown University and her MFA from Christie’s Fine Arts Education in London. She lives in Mill Valley with her husband and two children, Fargo (7) and Siena (6).
